Deep Cycle Battery Suppliers - WA

Hi guys,

Can anyone recommend a supplier for deep cycle batteries in WA ?
Looking at one to power dew heaters, laptop, mount, cameras, etc for taking the gear out in the field where there is no mains power.

recommendations welcome. I gather I'll need a suite of adaptors also.

Only one that comes to mind is Battery World. I saw a Deep Cycle on display in the shop here in Geraldton last week.

One thing I keep hearing from many customers(I work retail) is that Battery World and The 12 Volt shop are not exactly the cheapest around... but then they can't suggest someone that is! :shrug:

KMart have a "jump starter" for $99 - its a box with a motorcycle battery with 2 x 12V outlets, built in LED lamp, can be charged off your car (12 hours it says) and also has a 240V mains trickle charger (36 hours).

Nowhere does it say what the Ah rating is.

For what you get may as well thrash & trash and buy another when its spent.

Those jump starter packs usually have a standard AGMSLA(Absorbtive Glass Mat Sealed Lead-Acid) of around 7Ah to 12Ah size.
They aren't deep cycle but have a reasonable life when deep discharged, as long as they are re-charged as soon as possible and sat on a float charge whenever they are not being used.

If you have a decent charger it's probably cheaper to get them without the jump pack. Jaycar has the 7.2Ah for $29.95, a 9Ah for $42.95 and the 12Ah for $59.95, they won't last long thru the night with the sort of loads the OP wants to use though.
Jaycar also have DeepCycle batteries but not exactly the cheapest around... 26Ah for $139 and 38Ah for $199

Generally you only have 4 general electronics suppliers Altronics, Westec, Wagner and Jaycar. Dicksmith are changing image and slowly going away from component electronics to becoming a standard electronics retailer.
For massive products avaiablity you have X-ON (Perth Based), RS Components and Farnell. Although these are generally very pricey or X-ON are bulk suppliers.

Although I have wholesale accounts with Altronics, WES(Wagner) and Jaycar (Electus) I generally don't supply individual components at this stage.

A 105 or 115Ah deep cycle would be nice, but then Im lookn upwards to $300.
I think It'll satisfy all my needs(laptop, cameras, other) but its a heavy bugger, and pricey.
I already have a 1900Ah jumpstart for the mount from supercheap.

Guess i better do some solid reading, and find out what my requirements are, and what I'll need plus chargers.

I've found Battery World to be helpful with the adpaters and can usually custom make your cords/leads etc, but you should go in knowing exactly what you want if possible.
