Hi all,

after a long time of bad weather I had the chance to do astronomy last night.
I wanted to do a pic of M101 with the Pentax 75 SDHF, but I had a lot of problems with the guiding :mad2:
After many attempts i gave up.
To make just one pic I took the Canon 50mm f/1.4 for making some shots of the Cygnus region:

13x180s with ISO 800, 350d mod., F/2.5

and a larger version:

Next time I will take more pics an choose F/3.

cheers

Good job Werner. I particularly like the framing you've chosen for this scene. Massive FOV delivering a visually pleasing impact. I do however feel the image exhibit a subtle red cast which is perhaps compounding the other hues. Maybe try dropping the red channel using curves to neutralise it. Use an anchor point low in the curve and only drop it a few notches to see the effect. If you're concerned the highlights or mid tones will be impacted add a few more anchor points to control the curve. Overall, a really nice result. Thanks for sharing.

Good correction Werner - I like it. The O,B and A spec. type stars really pop in the new version. Be careful you don't drop it too much. When using curves to tweak colours, it does take much to lose colour balance. By using an anchor point low in the curve (shadows) and another close to the top (to maintain highlights), you'll have the best control. The top anchor point is important as you want to avoid introducing a magenta hue. Well done.
