Hi,

It's so frustrating when you know there is more in an image
and you know how to fix it...but in reality no amount of
tweaking can get you even where you were on the original! (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=446069&postcount=1)
I guess it also sorts out the amateurs from the pros!:)

I always write things down how I processed and sometimes
it just ends up being in the file title, but this repro gave me
a harder time with the same level of sharpening, even though
it only had 10 frames missing from a 254 frame set.

I removed some obvious elongated star frames in this stack, did
some more aggressive curves but it's hardly any better than the
original.
A different curve brings out the elongated halo a bit better.

And another repro:

this one I aligned but saved the frames.
Then resized the frames 150%
Then aligned but stacked this time.
Auto worked better.

Then applied a 1 pixel blur before
2 iterations of Laplacian sharpen.

Then the same curve regime.

Not bad considering the resize :)

First one for me Steve second one IMO a bit soft, what are you processing them in

First for me Steve. Nice job with this capture. I tried your capture method last night and was quite happy with the end result. 175X30 sec frames of Eta Carinae.

Keep them coming. Colour would be nice.

Real nice Steve. 1st is best.
Looks like the 1x pixel blur killed a bit of the detail before the sharpen on the second.
