Captured these before work yesterday.
Was a chilly, dry but beautiful morning.
Saw a very bright meteor too, no pics of that, alas.

Great pics again Liz. That's great to have captured M31! Can't do that from the inner suburbs of Brisbane.

I got up and tried to get some shots as well yesterday. Had a nice view of the 3 when I first got out of bed, but by the time I had the camera set up on the tripod the cloud had covered the Moon, and soon after it spread to cover Mars and Venus as well. Oh well, there's another good opportunity in June...

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks Stephen ... Yes, M31 is quite visible up here luckily.
Looking forward to Mercury joining the morning planets next week too.

Liz You could be right either way:P
What lens and exposure times and f stop did you use?
I am only new to DSLR photography so any info would be appreciated:thumbsup:
Cheers

Hi Ron - Shots with Moon are always tricky, and I usually overexpose, which doesnt look great, but .. oh well.
Andromeda shot - 25 sec (Moon hidden), ISO 800, f 3.2, 17 mm focal length.
Shots with Moon about 2 sec,ISO 400,f 4.5,17mm FL.
For dark skies use ISO 800 - 1600 - 1600 yields an abundance of stars!! Some cameras have a higher ISO. Camera on tripod, which is what I use, I expose a dark sky for about 30 sec/ISO 1600/f 3.2/17mm (like wide shots), so not to have star trails. You look like you can have guided shots ... lucky !!!!
DSLR are great - play around with ISO/apeture/time, lotsa fun.

Am very lucky and am renting on the beach, which is only about 15 metres from my veranda, so havent got very far to wander with my gear.
