Hi peoples :hi:

First clear skies in a while so had to get out there, still no eq6 so...

Jupiter + Io taken with ED80, 4x barlow (2x + 2x) on folding chair mount.
AVI captured with 40D liveview & EOS Movrec on 5x zoom, 65 of 144 frames used, 1/20sec exp, ISO1600.

I'm too inexperienced to say what the seeing conditions were, at a guess 6/10, quite a bit of shimmering going on.
Considering the conditions I'm quite pleased with how this turned out, though I was getting a little annoyed trying to get it on screen and lined up for the 5x zoom.
Little critter doesn't stay on screen for long. :mad2:

That's an awesome image for the technique you're using!

Excellent work.

Nice work Justin!
I need to get my act together and stay up a bit later - been too long since I last observed Jupiter....

Hi Justin.

I hope you were standing on one leg and balancing on the edge of the chair when you captured that, otherwise it sounds it was too easy to get such a good shot from a complicated setup.

Well done indeed. Why bother with an Eq6 when you have a folding chair available hey? ;)

Cheers

Chris

Thankyou all for the encouraging comments, makes the tedious capture proccess easier to bear.

As for standing on one leg and balancing on the edge it sure felt that way sometimes Chris.
I'm just glad possums don't pick up language like parrots do, the local ones would make even Gordon Ramsey blush.

Really liking this Movrec software for Moon/planet capture.
5x zoom gives 768x800 at 9 fps on the old Sony laptop, not an enormous frame rate but better than the 40D's high speed burst with greater sustain.

Tornado, one tip I can give is make sure your liveview display is set to simulate exposure as it appears to screen capture so what you see is what you get.

I've been really struggling with Registax without much success so I gave AviStack a try, so much easier to use with excellent results, IMO anyway.

Thought I might setup about the same time tonight and try for a GRS capture.
And if I could balance the 10" on the chair I'd only need a 2x barlow and much shorter exposure...hmmm. :screwy::screwy:

Somebody get me a rubber room!!! :P
