I read somewhere that if you look through a 3rd generation night sight or scope, at what looks like a dull patch of sky, that you see non stop action of sats and mets and all sorts of things.
From wiki:
Third generation night vision systems maintain the MCP from Gen II, but now use a photocathode made with gallium arsenide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallium_arsenide), which further improves image resolution. In addition, the MCP is coated with an ion barrier (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ion_barrier&action=edit&redlink=1) film for increased tube life. The light amplification is also improved to around 30000-50000x.
Now of course they are illegal here, but available in the states for 8-10 grand.
Has anyone ever had the chance to look through one or know of someone who has one o/s?
