how would you assess the focus Trevor?

Probably not as good as I would hope showed about

6, 6 FWMH and a peak of around 170 in DSLR Focus on the star I used to focus on, which was not that bright a star

Although my processing probably hasn't help due to the reflection and LP present

Attached is a relatively untouched image :D and as yo ucan see there is a fair amount of LP

whilst there may be quite some light pollution around, the halo effect- vignetting in the corners would suggest a flats issue, as would the dark streaks, possibly dust toward the edges.

i would redo the flats and see if it improves anything. the scope shows a lot of promise.

Trevor,
I think that this shows fantastic promise for the scope.
A close look shows me a long swirling arm running off the top of the galaxy going almost all the way to the edge of the image.
That's pretty cool.

All coming together Trevor,

I'm starting to think all the trials and hard work will pay off with some stunning images... good luck!

Trevor
well done mate
I have had a good look at my shots and others including NASA shots but cant see the extended arms on any.

its possible your camera is picking something up but it might also be an artifact , especially using DSS, I've had intermittent problems with DSS and often just selecting a different RAW setting (try bilinear) resolved the issue.

your tracking is spot on from the looks of it

Quite a tidy shot Trevor. May be a bit of moon glow in there also. It is hard to process well if you have some moon to contend with.
Look forward to seeing some more when every thing is in your favour.

Thanks Guys much appreciated it's a steep learning curve

Spearo I'll try bilinear normally let it use automatic

Cheers
