Hi All

Just messing around with my Ha of Tarantula and old RGB post ... this is what I came up with. I only processed my web images that I had posted to see how things might look.
The 2 images were completely different compositions so the resulting merge is a crop for both of them.
Anyway here is the pic.

Without zooming in, thats a striking pick Steve, has a smooth agressive feel and not too messy, which is hard on this one. Youve got that 3D effect too, nice work.

On zooming, the RGB registration or something seems to have gone astray. Id say it would be worth the trouble to try the RGB reg/alignment again,

If you mean there are some grey patches/spots ... there were some very saturated blue patches that I simply magic wand selected and desaturated etc.

As I said this is just me messing around with the Ha data and an old RGB posting ... both web images and not meant to be a seriously good job Fred ... just wanted to see what it would look like if I did have a go at processing HaRGB ... I've never done it before.

Thanks for your comments and for looking !

Those blue and grey spotches are typical in HaRGB (but only around stars, yours are near but offset, which made me think RGB alignment is off), because Ha gives far smaller stars. Large RGB sub stars then show ringed artifacts in the final image. There are several standard ways to minimise that.

No worries Fred ... you obviously have a lot more experience at this than me ... I only did my first Ha images last week.

Thanks Doug ... I don't know how to do it properly yet .... we've got some bad weather coming through here during the next week so I might take a look at re doing the image.

Thanks Kev ... adding the Ha data to RGB really made a difference to the colour image ... even if I didn't do it right.
