Guys,
Just a heads up that there are two VERY active areas just coming into view and it looks like a tremendous potential site for sunspots... There's a "core" visible in the one nearest the limb which, by the time you have sunrise in Oz could be a significanr sunspot.....
Now would be a good time to check out those solar filters and PST's.
Let me know what you find.

I've had a look this morning. If there's spots there I can't resolve them with the PST, but it looks like an interesting part of the sun. Contorted detail, plague and filaments... worth watching!

This is what I saw this morning. Definite potential here.
Dam hard to get accurate focus.

exposure 8000th sec

(yes I know I have a filthy sensor)

Nice one JJJ!
Shows up the brightest part of the active area well. In the PST the area around that shows lots of promise too. There was a ring of plague roughly outlining the detail you've captured there.
What sort of filter did you use for that shot?

It's just a generic white light filter Al.

No spots late in the day. Very interesting active areas but I think Sol is just teasing us.

Ok, here's a sunspot that has just appeared.
Funny, it's a weird shape. Never seen a Sunspot like this before :eyepop:
