Saw it last night. You've got to see it. Humour, love, pathos, its got the lot. http://www.maryandmax.com/ That it is was claymation makes it all the more incredible, but you quickly forget that and get lost in the characters. *****

I totally agree - the film is amazing - delightful, challenging and extraordinary.

Can we see another Oscar on the horizon??

It was the first Saturday night at the Pinewood (Mt Waverley) theatre. We were treated to Early Grey tea and lamingtons! Producer Melanie Coombs and writer/director Adam Elliot (who grew up in Mt. Waverely) were both there and answered questions as well as gave prizes to a few whose hands went up the fastest in answer to a few of their questions about the film. This film gave Elliot his second Oscar after Harvie Krumpet. The film took 5 years to make. I guess his next film will take a long time too.
Will get the DVD when it comes out in September.

This is brilliant! My niece is starting to get into animation and I noticed at HarveyN a software program for this very purpose.

Thanks Robert.

What's the software Petra? At a recent meeting of Melbourne PC Users Group - Video production SIG I won a copy of IClone 2. I do quite a lot of video editing and am interested to give animation a go too. Passes the time when we have cloudy skies.:)

Hi Petra,
I thought you had bought it, which is why I asked. But don't make any special trips. I had a look at their on-line cattledog but couldn't find anything. Its not important. Let me know when/if you find it again. :-)
Cheers,
Robert

My cousin was Elliotts assistant on the movie.
I can see another oscar coming up for this one.

I've watched it on opening day. Loved it with all of it's ups and downs.
What was very moving, was the ending.
It was a "ce sera sera" moment.
This movie has won some awards over the word being displayed at short film festivals, I think they just won a best overall film at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film.

I love watching claymation stuff, like what used to be on SBS's "Eat Carpet" and now "Shorts on screen".

Though one of my favourites was, Morph (Tony Hart or also known as Take Hart).
