Tarantula in Ha. NGC2070 with QHY9

I thought I had better have a go at some Ha imaging. Everyone else is doing it.

NGC2070 5 X 15 minute exposures taken with QHY9 Mono CCD with 7nm Baader Ha filter through Vixeen VC200L at F6.4 with the reducer fitted.

I finally figured out how to fit the reducer with the QHY9 and filter wheel.

The image was combined with IP3 and adjusted with PS CS3.

tight little shot there. is it cropped at all ? plenty of detail. the Ha thing has become the thing to do lately, i like it for showing up the structure of the Ha BUT i do hope you finish it off as either an RGB or narrowband. i must admit im growing more to like the narrowband , particularly as it gives much tighter stars.

cloud ruling the skies here in melbourne.

certainly is the go with a mono CCD...and gives you an option on nights when there is some moon about

Thanks Clive. Thought I had better join the band wagon as I had the filter sitting here. I will try and finish it off when the moon takes a rest. No crop for this one. Taken with the VC200L at 1260mm.

Thanks Narayan, you can always do the same with the QHY8 in either 2x2 binning or just separate and keep the luminance channel.

I had to try and keep up with you Steve. You will hhave enough Lum Ha to keep you busy for the entire new moon and then some.

Thanks Paul, I am going to give it a go at 2x2 binning as it will bring the arcsec/ pixel scale back to a better figure. I think 0.65"/pixel is a bit low. The results might be interesting.
