A single frame 1/640 second adjusted is PS7 for colour balance taken with GSO 8" RC which had yet to be collimated or accurately focused

Cheers

Hi Trevor,

Why would you not collimate and focus the scope, first?

Cheers

hehehe Trevor - getting there with that RC! Pity it's soft though :( Contrast looks good.

As said previously soft image, also on my calibrated monitor looks like slightly mauve tinge to it.

Agreed Mart.

I just took the shot as an experiment before spending the rest of the night collimating the scope using CCDInspector.

It was just to see the size of the frame compared to what I would capture at prime focus through the 80ED.

The tinge may have been because of the filter I was using

It's a shame you can't fit the whole moon! Can you use a reducer with it?

Mike I will be trying a WO Flat II .8 with it, in theory it should work but I won't know until I give it a try

This is an image taken tonight full moon uncropped using WO Flat II FR 1 frame

Still looks a bit soft, also, did you apply any noise reduction to it?

Dave

No noise reduction don't know whether the modified Canon makes a difference as to why it's soft could also be the seeing as some cloud about tonight and was warm day here by the way both images were taken around 7:00pm so moon was still low in sky (no filter)

I think focus although OK see attached image Mimosa this is a stack of 20 x 10 seconds, darks, flats applied uncropped, unguided

Interesting, that's sharp/well focused. I'm not sure why the moon looks so soft, but Mimosa looks fine...I'm sure someone else will though!

Dave still not 100% sure about my collimation spent Friday night trying to get it right by eye, looked OK but after analysis of a stack of 5 frames in CCD shows different results. Anyone know how to read these.
