It is a surprize meaningful work in this area could be conducted on the planet and not further out where there may be less "stuff" to filter from the data.
I am happy to hear that they may find some support to the inflation theory...or at least seeking to find some support at least...

Hey, it works both ways. If they detect these subtle footprints in the CMB, it supports the existence of gravitational waves. The next step would be to find if the elusive graviton exists and whether it affects light over larger distances i.e. magnifying the red shift. Just maybe the perception of an accelerating expansion is an illusion and dark energy is a myth.
