Iridium flares move in a straight line. If it moved and then changed direction my guess is the copper chopper was looking for you.

heavens-above predict flares so close to my place, but can never catch them. Usually a mag of -7

Some of us have seen UFOs - I've had a close encounter of the 2nd kind way back in 1979. Interestingly, I was talking to a friend a few years ago on MSN and told her about it and she went away for a few minutes. She'd googled it and found several pages which referenced other people seeing UFOs in the area that I lived, in that year, at that time of the year, at that time of the night. Said pages were completely unknown to me and I was quite surprised to say the least. edit: Oh, and the descriptions from people matched what I'd seen.

For many years afterwards, nothing would grow in that area - it was just a large patch of dirt. Trees planted in that area would die, grass wouldn't catch on. Everywhere else along that area was OK, just that area. Co-incidence? It took over 20 years before grass started to grow there again. After seeing what I saw, I started getting interested in the paranormal, and several books that I bought in my early teens described the very craft that I'd seen, so accurately it wasn't funny.

I've thought about retro hypnotherapy, but can't be bothered. I'm quietly convinced of what I saw. Oh, and my father saw it as well, he just won't admit it - it's to do with his age, anything like that just doesn't exist, no matter what you see/hear/smell/feel.

I ain't no crackpot, and I didn't drink as a ten year old, nor did I smoke pot. It wasn't late at night, and I wasn't dreamy or sleepy. It wasn't a mirage either. Being 14' or so away from it, one is close enough to realise it's tangible.

The odds of alien life are incredibly high - I think we're going to increasingly find that most stars have planetary systems, and most of them have terrestial planets too, with a good percentage having planets around stable stars in the life zone. It might not be carbon based life, but where there's life, there'll be intelligence. Nature on Earth has shown how things have evolved, and nature is nature, no matter what planet we're looking at. It's smart, it's adaptive and ever changing.

Humans think we're such know it alls, but we really know very little. Hell, our most powerful computers still have massive problems with wind and ocean currents. We still can't figure out how Quantum physics and Relativistic physics fit in. Dark matter? We know it's there, due to its gravitational influence in visible matter, but why does it exist, how does it get created, what happens to it, how does it interact with normal matter, etc etc are all questions that we have no idea about.

If aliens have the ability to travel great distances if at all, I am pretty sure that they would have the technology to conceal themselves relatively well too.

We are still in the dark ages of science but increasing knowledge quickly.

So many theories can be thought of some outlandish some responsible. Irrespective it would be great to keep an open mind on the subject.

Sometimes i see things but cannot for say be certain they are other life or whether it is those furry thing that float in my eyes that are playing tricks. :D

I know what my eyes saw Malcolm, and nothing man made can do what this thing did. My eyesight was good as a kid, and still is pretty good for a 40 year old, and at only 14' or so away, it's close enough for me not to be making mistakes in identification.

Like many in my position, I was glued to the spot - brain was alive but body was imoveable. I felt no harm was directed at me, I remember that much and they/it obviously wasn't worried about me seeing it.

Think about spy planes from a variety of countries - they're meant to be hidden, but occasionally, they get seen. Either by mistake, or deliberate means. Given that the Japanese are already working on cloaking (like in the movie Predator), sure, we can hide ourselves, but not everyone/thing wants to hide I guess.

You already answered this for me.

I am not going to doubt you saw something, what you have to realise is that like in the very early times someone saw a person with extraordinary powers and wrote lots about him and consequently many people believe them and accept them without any shread or evidence. Call it religion, I do not doubt that someting happened, but the all powerful guy didn't hang around. They say if you have a tiny amount of faith you can move a mountain (according to the book) I don't see anything moving very much.

Understanding that, you can then realise why a lot a not ready to accept what others say until we all experience it or understand the technology that reveals them.

There are many people that still do not believe man landed on the moon. As I have not seen it myself, I do understand the technology that bought the evidence of the landing, and the technology still remain today.

Do not be dis-heartened that people will not accept what you saw, I and a lot of other people will always keep an open mind on the subject.

What I found interesing is the UK report on UFO, in that the UK government commisoned a private consultant to explain reported sighting by military personel giving a more open access to these report (wait and see). On the news recently.

Let hope they make contact. Maybe they think we are a too agressive species and steering clear of us for a while. Or maybe like the movie Contact says "small steps".

One of the ladies at work tried to tell me about some dancing lights in the eastern sky from Roma. I tried to explain to her that the atmosphere might make the light appear to move slightly but as she explained they moved a fair amount over the sky from just above her horizon to almost straight up and back again. I don't think the atmosphere would make the light dance around that much. I just put it down to imagination but now not so sure. I have an open mind to these things. I personally haven't seen these lights because I am usually asleep at 3am.

Can't say I've ever seen anything unexplainable myself, but when I was in NSW a friend over there described his experience while at work one nightshift. He described a craft in great detail, right down to some sort of lettering on it. Reckoned it was only about 20-30 feet above him. He does'nt drink, is definitely not into illegal substances, and is totally convinced of what he saw. Me, I've still got an open mind on these things.

I haven't seen any made made crafts go from hovering at 9' to disappearing vertically straight up in an instant, without a sonic boom. Have you? No turbulence either. It just disappeared into a point of light (sort of like the Enterprise disappears into a point of light when it goes into warp speed in TNG). It came down the way it went up into the atmosphere - no sound, no warning, no turbulence. Not there one second, there the next. Effortless. No heat either.

Trevor - I just had this deep feeling that I wasn't in trouble, and thus was quite relaxed.

The craft that I saw was not large, had no markings that I saw, was probably close to 9-10' in diameter, certainly no larger, fluroescent Orange, and the craft looked like it was broken up into pieces like an Orange/Mandarin does. No windows.

I have no idea how it worked, but I know it wasn't man made. I have no recollection of anything other than standing their, in my backyard, in a trance. I'm not even sure how long we stood there for. Could have been seconds, could have been minutes.

I have no reason to lie, since most people think that you're a crackpot if you mention anything about UFOs. I don't like being thought of as a crackpot lol. I'm a pretty sane and ordinary guy.

so i cant say it was man made and i believe your not crazy its pretty cool what you saw i mean how many people have been that close to one
you should write a review to as&t about it and see if you can get it published:thumbsup:

Trevor - probably more people than will admit.

The US government refused to fully explain the results of Project Blue Book - where a good percentage of sightings were clearly unexplainable. Similarly, with the UK's reporting in the same period of time. Even many Astronauts say that they've seen some very weird stuff.

Sceptics say "if I can't touch it, it doesn't exist". If we took that attitude with most of science, we'd be back in the stone ages. Pot calling kettle Black perhaps?

[QUOTE=TJD;443586]I dont beleive Australias military have any top secret aircraft or development of the such, we buy most of our stuff off the yanks and it's normally either secondhand or second best if we are lucky, lol....

Yeah, true Stuart. I don't think that the US military has anything like it either. In fact, I'm pretty damn sure.

yeah, but stars don't fleetingly disappear Trevor, and I think that that's part of the reason why the science community won't accept anything in relation to UFOs etc. Probably half the technology that they use has come from UFOs lol, Area 51 anyone? Rosfield?
