Hi all
Due to some health issues I am selling up all my gear then retireing and hitting the road, what I need is a portable mount/scope combination.
The one that keeps looking good is the Ioptron, but I cant find an Aust agent. I could import one! Is this risky as to warranty issues?
Any advise would be apreciated.
Regards
Mike.

I understand that Extravision is tha Australian Dealer for Ioptron.

I cannot give you any advice regarding this brand, I'm sorry.

What sort of setup/type/aperture are you looking at? Would something like a Celestron 6SE be an option? Or do you have your mind set on a particular combination?

All the best with your journey. Best of health to you.

I purchased my Celestron Nexstar 6SE with that purpose in mind. Its great.

If you want to go light weight, try the iOptron cube. I took mine over seas with me, it hardly took up any room in my luggage. You can run it off AA batteries if need be.
Or if you want something that can handle a more substantial scope the iOptron Mini Tower is the way to go.

I think either the Celestron 5/6/8 SE would be a great option, closely followed by the iOptron options which will probably be a little cheaper unless you can pick one up an SE 2nd hand. Either way I think you're on the right track.

Obviously purchasing locally is preferred, but if you can get a good deal by buying OS then go for it. Support in the form of IIS is at hand, and if something was really amiss you should be able to return it and get a refund.

Hi all
Thanks for the advise, for those of you who have been lucky enough to camp in outback Qld you will know that a large apature is not needed as the night sky simply takes your breath away. I thought I would utilise my Orion 80mm (used to be my guide scope). I recon it would fit nicely on the Ioptron cube.
Many thanks
Mike.

Sounds like a good plan. You could always add something like a C6 OTA to it when/if one comes up for sale on IIS or fleabay. The cube should be a great portable option!
