Hi,
I took these last night through my 10" SW Dob from the backyard. Used a Sony Cybershot 12.1 mp camera, 10" and 25" eyepieces.
My first scope and first images. The last couple of weeks have been a steep learning curve for me. This site is great even for a real newby like me.
They're pretty rough but it was fun to do and next time will be even better. btw, what's the best Moon phase for images?
Hey, well done Mark!! 2nd one is lovely and clear too :thumbsup:
Amazing what you can do with little digital, lots of fun as you say.:)

Hi, and I also like number 2 best. Well done.
To answer your question about when its best to image the Moon.
I think it can be anytime when the Moon is less than Full for best shadow definition. ie: When the terminator shows lots of detail and depth to the landscape features.
However the Full Moon can be a rewarding challenge also.
best of luck.

Good start there!
I like to image the lunar limbs at or full moon and the terminator at or near first and last quarter phase.

Thanks for the comments and tips on best imaging times for the Moon. I hope to get some more shots over the next week.
It really is a fast moving target too.

Very cool! Love wide field shots and close ups of the moon, it's a great target, and addictive!!:D
