I was out imaging Jupiter before work on Monday morning, hoping again for some better seeing as I finally got for my image 2 days before.

Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations - it was really strange seeing. The detail was quite clear and steady and I could make out polar spots and dark storms during the raw capture, but localised bad seeing was causing a bad waving motion across Jupiter from West to East.

It settled down just enough to capture this image above in reasonable seeing just before I had to pack up to head off to work.

I'm looking forward to it getting light before 6am again, so I can finish my imaging run and THEN go to work and be on time!

Hi ,
Your keen getting up before work Mike but worth the effort. Good to see jupiter not under attack.
TOP SHOT!

Nice image Mike,

The thing that stuck me about this image is what can been seen down nearer to the Nth polar region, I think it is easy to be drawn to the equatorial belts and obvious ovals toward the Sth polar region but there is some very subtle features to the Nth that I think look pretty well defined in this image. Also like the crispness of the Northern edge of the Nth equatorial belt.

I think I am going to have to research the correct Nomenclature for Jupiter.

Cheers

Thats the benchmark for us Mike. I think its a great image and how you manage to get up early and then go to work is beyond me. Do you have your scope permanently set up?

Looks pretty good to me, plenty of detail, even if the seeing wasn't perfect.

Good one Mike, as Trevor said, with plenty of detail standing out.

I am hoping for a attempt soon, been hampered by cloud lately.

I am jealous that you can get up early enough to capture some images. Your persistence is second to none. Here in South Florida seeing is excellent this week and the skies are clear. Most of the folks in Miami are clueless as to why we are having such a long stretch of good seeing and clear nights. I know why the weather is behaving so well. My CGE is at Celestron for repairs. They have had it since Apr 1 and we don't expect it back until the summer. Bummer.:mad2:
