I took this image of the 9-day old waxing gibbous Moon on Sunday night, 3rd May 2009.

The image has been colour-enhanced to emphasise the composition differences of geological formations. From APOD:

The image consists of 21 images stacked in Registax and processed in Photoshop. Captured with my Canon 20D, WO 0.8x, ED80. 1/100s @ ISO100.

Good one, now what's the process for saturation Mike?

Nice image Mike,
A very different perspective on such a well known object.

Nice and clear and sharp Mike, ;) but the saturation is not to my liking, but that is just my personal tastes.

Leon

Nice image Mike,
I think it would look great with a little less colour.
Its amazing that there is so much difference in the surface colour. This image shows it well.
It is different thats for sure.

Well done again.

Nice image Mike. Some areas have quite defined colour "dots" - interesting.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

The process is explained in the post on my site (http://www.mikesalway.com.au/2009/05/05/the-saturated-colour-moon).
Basically many layers of a saturation boost. The trick is to ensure you've got enough data to start with, so stacking many images first helps to ensure the saturation doesn't end up blown out and pixelated.

No worries Leon, it's not for everyone. I haven't done a saturated Moon before so thought I'd give it a go.

I took some images 3 days later, this time over 100 frames! Will get around to processing them today I hope. I'll post a black and white, and colour version :)
