While imaging Jupiter on the morning of the 2nd May 2009, you can imagine my shock and surprise when a massive bug, at least 3 times the size of the Earth, invaded and started attacking Jupiter!
Click the link below to watch the shocking event unfold and to read my expert analysis, and for the final chapter on this dramatic story. Did the bug wipe out Jupiter, or did the Jovians repel the 6-legged invader?

Actually, Mike, watching that move about in the seeing and in soundless monochrome reminded me of the old silent movies.:D Add in a couple of caption pages, and maybe some piano music in the background, and you could be on a winner!

Strewth life on Jupiter, who would ever have thought that.
Seems to be having no problems with the gravity or the very high wind speeds.
Looking at its size relative to Jupiter it has to be at least 20,000 km long, now thats a big bug.
Cheers

I always knew that Jupiter wasn't as big as what they make out.:confuse3:

Check the interior of your camera the insect is trapped and is walking around looking for a way out, sometimes on the sensor.

hahaha, nice one. Gave me a good chuckle after a crappy night with the scope...

Needs more detail. How many legs did you say? Hope you got NASA to get us a close up with the Hubble! :hi:

rofl:rofl:i know there even better
Still ironing out the bugs after 5 years of planetary imaging, huh Mike?
Perfectionist.

Hey, bugs aren't bad. Bugs are a sub species of Insects btw. The overall term "bug" is wrong and very misleading. Oh, and Spiders are *not* Insects, they are arachnids. Completely different.
I photograph Insects & Arachnids as a side hobby, and they're very interesting to observe imho - we can learn quite a bit from them.
I know your comment was in jest, but couldn't resist sticking up for the poor "bugs".

Hey Mike,
It reminds me of those old old sci fi movies (especially Japanese ones ).
If things go pear shaped because of the recession you could try your hand at remaking some of those old flicks.
Brett
That's a classic Mike, I wonder if APOD will accept that one.
Cheers
