Here is my interpretation of the region in Ara surrounding NGC 6188.
There are many fascinating shapes and details in this region. I'm
still new at narrowband and I am still trying to get a hang of the
color scheme. I'm pleased to see the outer shell of NGC 6164-5 which is a rarely seen structure.

I'm not a big fan of narrowband usually but I like this one.
Love that cluster in the top left and that shell looks fantastic.

Me neither, but it sure is nice to image during a full moon! Also, this narrowband stuff brings out details that are hard to see in RGB images. That outer shell or bow shocks can be seen in HaRGB (as in Martin Pugh's image) but they are faint and without detail. In OIII they jump out of the image!
Also, when I show my wife my RGB images she says "that's nice dear", but when I do one of these SHO narrowband images she says "that's beautiful"! Go figure!!!

Simply stunning Tom. To me it is very 3 dimensional and the colors are breath taking.
One of the nicest images I have seen on this site, and that is saying something given the high calibre of imaging that is presented to us on a daily basis.

Lovely image, not a great narrow band enthusiast myself, but I like the subtle detail and colouring of this image. Not a sign of noise can be seen and I would not expect there to be after 14 hours of capture. Lovely huge field of view too.
Congratulations on a really nice image.

Hmmm?.......:confuse3:?......seems I'm lost for words?
Pretty dam fine image Tommy
Have to say, you are producing some of the finest images in the World at the moment, that scope with reducer and big FLI camera are a potent (perfect??) combination, lucky for us mediocrity kings you aren't Australian or those on Mike Salways top 10 Aussie astrophotographer list would all be bumped down one :P

Its a real pleasure being able to view these works of art in different wavelengths! Like you say, you get to see detail not present previously - or in a different contrast! Well done! (One of these days I'll give NB a go myself!)

Thanks Mike. I not sure I deserve a statement like this since I frequently come up with duds, but I do think this particular image did turn out well.

Absolute stunning image Tom, one of the very best I have seen recently. The halo around the planetary is lovely.
The reducer you use on your AP155? Is that an AP reducer or third party?
thanks

Tom,
Outstanding image.
Agreed with the other commenter about the etherael quality to this image and the successful portrayal of a three-dimensional object in a two-dimensional medium -- utterly superb. The stark contrasts evoke a sense of mystery around this region.
This is one of my favourite parts of the sky. I have previously imaged it with a DSLR through a 10" Schmidt-Newtonion (whilst the target was low on the horizon, d'oh!) and look forward eagerly to giving it another go this winter.
I look forward to each gemstone out of the celestial treasuretrove that you present to us.
Regards,
Humayun
Blooming stunning Tom, I'm the opposite and a big fan of narrowband.
I absolutely love this image.
I hope you dont mind if I put it on my desktop.
Cheers
