Hi all,

Those of us in Melbourne have been lucky this week, beautiful clear nights, three in a row. Really allows for some long imaging runs. Took the data for this one over the last two nights.

Messier 83 in LRGB.

3 Hours luminance, 30 minutes for each colour all unbinned, all 10 minute subs.

Meade 10"RCX @ f/8, SBig ST-10XME, AO8.

Hope you like it.

Does anyone have a way to remove the halos from the bright stars?

Cheers
Stuart

Beaut shot Stu. You caught a few faint fuzzies in the background but the top two are good and sharp and clear. Great detail in the arms. You can see the concentrated clustering of star formation within.

No criticism from me. If only I could do so well.

:eyepop: Ooh Yeah! Really nice! That's on my list of things to do at f/10 on the C11 maybe this week-end. I hope I can come even close to what you got. Top shot :thumbsup::thumbsup:

nice rendition, the detail in the core was unexpected

unfortunately the burning off in the Yarra Valley ruined it here, it seems incredible that days to burn off neatly coincide with good imaging nights, ..... clear skies and little wind.

i need to live north of the divide i think.

Nicely resolved. Contrast a little high for my taste, but dealers choices there. Great effort

Nice work Stuart. Great image scale. I'd prefer to see a little more punch in the colours, but that's a personal taste. Well done.

Wow Stuart, excellent resolution in the main arms and beautiful clarity in the HII regions.

At first the colours look a bit mutted but after a while they grew on me.

To me the background is clipped again...and it ain't my monitor  so you are losing a bit in the surrounds.

Excellent work

Great image Stuart, So much detail in the galaxy and the colour is very nice. Looks like the ACF makes a nice imaging scope. The halos don't really detract from the image.
Nice, well done.

Very nice indeed mate!!

As for your halos around stars, I would venture a guess that they are either reflections from filters, or from the corrector plate.. I used to get reflections like this from my C11 on bright stars, although they were never quite as prominent... how to remove them?? I never found out..

Nice image Stuart ... the AO8 unit really helps at this Focal Length I suspect ... did you end up selling the AO7 ?

Great image Stuart. You are really pumping them out.

A few ways to get rid of halos:

1. Lasso or colour range tool select them and minimum filter for those stars only.

2. Or use the sponge tool and set it to burn and highlights and 15% or more and rub around the halo with the image zoomed in.
