You have captured the nebulosity very well, and with an unmodded camera.
Well done Barb and David.

Great image Guys, The detail and amount of nebulosity captured almost makes it hard to believe the camera is unmodded. Just goes to show what patience, good focus ,plenty of exposure and good processing skills can achieve.
Well done.
:thumbsup: very nice pic  i like it :)

Thanks Marc. It's a great object to image and to process
Thanks for commenting Petra glad you like it
Thanks Lester yep the 40D does a great job
Really pleased with the amount of Ha we managed to draw out Clive
Appreciate the kind words Doug. Yes it's a team effort. David stayed up all night to get the data on this one and M104. He finds using the Bahtinov mask improved our focusing quite a bit and of course the processing is a never ending learning curve :)
Beautiful image Barb and David, always enjoy your work.
It really does look like it's taken by a modded camera, amazing for a stock 40D !!
I really like the Canon 40D's, perfect for both astro and terrestrial, wouldn't mind upgrading to one.
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to more.

Thanks Jen :)
Thanks Rob. The 40D does a great job
Appreciate the comments Andrew.
We like the idea of being able to use an off the shelf DSLR and still get the quality in our images. It takes a lot of time in processing to bring out the Ha but it's definately in there to be extracted.
We highly recommend the 40D for astroimaging if you decide to take the plunge

Nice work guys. Quite remarkable how much Ha you've picked up. The nebulosity doesn't appear to contain much in the way of highlights. I'm not sure if this is simply processing or the data didn't have anything to begin with. Regardless, certainly an achievement. Well done.
Wonderful imaging guys, this is always a lovely nebula to capture and you have certainly done it justice.
Fine work indeed.

Thanks Ric. It was enjoyable to process this one
Thanks for pointing out the lack of highlights Jase.
I've tweaked the image and hope it looks a bit better. I will probably try again at some stage and start from scratch processing a little differently to enhance the highlights more.
