Hi Guys,

Mike has kindly asked me to join in the fun posting planetary images here, so I thought I'd start with a Jupiter image from last weekend.

I have a home-made 10" newtonian, mirror made by Mark Suchting in Sydney. Focusser is a JMI DX1-M and the mount is a Losmandy G-11.

Large temperature swings between day and night here in Canberra mean that I had to build a peltier cooler to help cool the mirror down fast enough to get it at equilibrium by 4am.

I used a unibrain fire-i monochrome firewire camera @ 15fps and colour filters to capture about 600 frames each in red, green, blue and then processed them in Registax and Astra Image to get this result.

Hi from Canberra.

Very very nice Bird, one of the best Jupiters I've seen.

and thanks for signing up! Hope to see some more of you around here, your expertise, suggestions, advice etc will be greatly welcomed, even if CN is still your main home!

Hi Bird,
good to catch up again, seems we all move in similar circles.
Nice Jupiter, haven't even seen it yet, darn clouds.
