G'day all,

Well, it is so rare that I photograph a planet I just had to post this! That is besides the fact it's only 30 frames!

I was slewing around tonight looking at some NGC objects for suitable guidestars and needing to go past Satun I decided to try snapping it with the SBIG. To my surprise it wasn't burnt out! Last time I tried I'm sure it was (some years ago), I know Jupiter certinly is unable to be imaged with the ST7 because it just over exposes.

Anyway, minimum exposure resulted in 30% saturation tonight, so I went for 60% at 0.2 second exposure.

Cloud was passing through so out of 150 frames I only kept 30. :(

One thing with the ST7 setup is focus is a sinch. 62 seconds to autofocus tonight, and Saturn was spot on sharp. :D

At 2190mm focal length it was very small on the chip. I have resized the original up about 225% to get it to the current size. It loses that sharp look of course, but I found it was just too small at original size.

Anyway, here's my first and probably last image of Saturn in quite some time, better enjoy it while it lasts!

Roger.
