I really haven't had much of a go at globular clusters before. I used to find them uninteresting, but this has proved to have it's own challenges to capture.

Orion Starshoot OS Deep space imager
Skywatcher ED120APO Prime focus
EQ6, Orion Starshoot autoguider and PHD

MaxIm DL essentials to capture and stack. Slight curve adjustment in PS elements.

Trying to keep the processing minimal.

Critique welcome.

Nice image Baz. I am imaging this one myself tonight. I hope I capture without too much smoke overhead.
The 120 seems to do a nice job and your guiding looks very good.

Great image Baz. The Orion Starshoot seems to perform well. Can you provide some image details - is the camera cooled, how many subs, sub exposure duration?

Thanks guys.

Pete, the camera has a standard cooling fan inside it. The subs were 90 seconds and thirty of them.

Cheers,

Baz.

Hi Baz,

At first glance the image has too much yellow in the stars and the background level is too high.

The Orion is OSC is it?

Great Image Baz, such an awesome subject. There is a lot more that can be pushed into he image with a bit more gamma and a bit more dark. (I use Paint shop pro 5
