Best Star Trek film of all is the second one "Star Trek II : The Wrath of Kahn" (at least until I see the new one in early May.) Next in line would be "First Contact" with the Borg - an absolute riot.

I would follow this by "Star Trek VI : the Undiscovered Country". (the favourite line of mine in this movie; Favourite line is by Chang quoting "Shakespeare is good in English, but you need to read him in the original Klingon ...", and saying "taH pagh taHbe' " ("To Be, or Not To Be") - Klingons loving Shakespeare because "everyone dies"! Classic. (I.e. Hamlet is Klingonese is at; http://www.khemorex-klinzhai.de/e/Hol/kli/hamlet )

Best Star Trek episode of all is "In the Pale Moonlight" in Deep Space Nine (Series 6) and is some of the most intelligent sci-fi I've seen on TV. The story goes along the lines of tricking some others to rally towards someone cause, and in turn throw away your morals and values to achieve it. I can still vividly remember the great quote by Capt. Cisco ;
"My father used to say that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I laid the first stone right there. I'd committed myself. I'd pay any price, go to any lengths, because my cause was righteous. My... intentions were good. In the beginning, that seemed like enough."
If I were to second guess, it would be "City on the Edge of Forever" in the original series (Series One), followed 3rd by the quite pleasant Star Trek: Enterprise "Carbon Creek" (Series 2).

The best Star Wars one is the first Episode "Star Wars : Episode IV A New Hope." It is fun, it pure escapism, and when I first saw it at the cinema as a teenager took my breath away.

As for the best between "Star Trek" and "Star Wars", well there is no answer, because each must be taken on their own merits. They have there good points and bad, but if you let yourself go into the imaginative world, then as long as they entertain, they are all mostly very good indeed.
DRAW, methinks!

Note: However, if I had to defend myself in a fight, give me the Star Wars lightsaber any day over Trek's Klingon bat'leths (sword of honour) and phasers.

To make a judgement on this issue you need someone who is well informed, someone totally unbiased. :einstein:

To make that objective decision you want the "Green Lady" Orion Slave Girl.

Love them both :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thum bsup::thumbsup:

The first Star Wars made a big impact, so is my fav.
Enjoyed all the Star Trek movies, though when I see 'Nemesis' at the pictures - WOW, loved it.

One of our dogs (long haired black and whitr border collies) is called Darth Vader. He is dark all down one side - has a dark side - hence his name! His other name is b!%%&y destructo-dog. Would love to put him in a movie!

Our little ginger tom cat was called Spock. He wandered in, got fed, petted and was allowed to sleep anywhere he wanted. To leave would be illogical :)

Star Trek and Star Wars are just new age fads - I think you guys have been out in the luna rays far too long!! Dr Who is one of the all time classics, first aired in 1963 and still going strong

Hey. On 8th September 1966 was when Star Trek TOS first aired - and that is pretty close to to Dr.Who, which was on 23rd November 1963. :D

There have been six series in Star Trek totalling 726 episodes and ten movies since then (736) + one more after May 7th 2009. Dr Who has made a total of 753 episodes through 204 stories!. :eyepop:

So much for new age fads - the numbers I'd say are are pretty much equal. Considering there was only one miserable Dr.Who movie in 1996, between the hiatus of 1989 and 2005, I would say "still going strong" is really a bit of an illusion IMO.

Too many re-generations and jelly babies methinks! :scared:

Hey Jen.

The NEW Star Trek movie hasn't come out yet !! ;)

Just in case you don't know....

It got lots of nice somewhat virile handsome young male actors in it... one surely to appeal to the, er, female meltable heartstrings !! I.e. Eric Bana or Zachary Quinto, etc. (Though pity George Clooney isn't in it, else it be the perfect flick ! :()

It also features Rachel Nichols and Diora Baird playing a Orion Slave Girls.

You might just even get some extra tips against us many vulnerable IIS boys here...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Have to agree with that one Bazz, found it a bit unexciting too. Have watched all the others multiple times but Nemesis only once.

Hard to compare Star Trek (which is fundamentally a TV series) with Star Wars (which is a series of movies). However, that said, I liked both of them and each has left their own mark on society and will continue to entertain people for many years to come.

I can't really say which movies were the best, however, I must admit that the first Star Trek movie is the worst IMHO. It was very much "look what we can do now!" in the special effects area and the whole story was a rehash of an original series episode, "Doomsday Machine" I think? As such it was predictable almost from the start.

I have all the episodes and movies of both which took many years to see, almost 8 years I think!

Live long and prosper, may the force be with you, make it so....

Best Star Trek movie - Wrath of Khan

Best Star Wars movie - Empire Strikes Back

And which is better - Hmmm, really too tough to call. If this new Star Trek film is a winner, and because the last 3 Star Wars prequels were a bit dodgy, I'd lean towards Star Trek.

And on a final note one of my favourite quotes of all time is from Darth Vader, "Your lack of faith disturbs me."

Classic.

Star Wars, the original 3 where the best, TESB had the darkest story, TROTJ was too 'namby-pampy' and the story of intergalactic twins kinda killed it. Episode IV 'A new hope', the original Star Wars is the best, although an honourable mention goes to 'Revenge of the Sith' as it was actually quite good.

ok ..

Star Trek:

Star Trek the Movie - Best Story out of all the movies, the remastered one is very good. excellent.

Star Trek - The Wrath of Khan - Again excellent, when Spock died i was in shock.

Star Trek - The Search for Spock - Not bad, but when i seen Commander Kruge, all i could see was Jim from taxi

Star Trek - The Voyage Home. Very good, a bit out there, but very good.

Star Trek - The Final Frontier ......

Star Trek - The Undicovered Country. Excellent, the best of the lot, i was hanging of the edge of my seat when the Excellsior was flying to help.

Star Trek - Generations ...... :screwy:

Star Trek - First Contact , very good, but missing something, dont know what.

Star Trek - Insurrection ....

Star Trek - Nemesis. Complete Tosh. the only clone i have ever seen that looked nothing like its host.

so ...

Star Wars , and Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country.

Ah, we found a weak spot on the armoury of Jen... so you must be into Heroes then. I.e. Star Trek - just without the uniforms. ;)

So what is your s u p e r p o w e r now, 'o mistress.....

Cloud elimination or speadn' the GREEN , perhaps ?

I,m with Liz and a few others and seen them i cant see what the problem is.
Its called entertainment and I watched them.

If i dont like a movie i will turn it off when it becomes boring.

Just remember how old star wars is compared to todays movies with there new superior graphics,if you didnt like the advanced graphics at the time you were probably watching old reruns.
