After what seemed a eternity I finally got a chance to go for a sortie with the scope and do some imaging last night .It was late set up ...11.00pm...{recreational activities intervened -football+drinking} but conditions looked great ,no cloud semi-mildish , but nonetheless i was nervous this winter season has been a season of ambush's by tricky changes of weather.Would you believe it soon as i got to the the dift aligning torture the wind started to pick up :rolleyes: it was difficult to get accurate readings but i persisted and finally finished with the best i could manage. Unfortunately i could tell by my slightly out GOTOs the polar alignment wasn't to accurate :doh: , but what the hell i thought ill give it a go .As soon as i had the camera attached and a juicy target selected the wind miraculously died to nothing :confuse2: giving a fine selection of profanities decided to push on while debating whether to hook up the LPI with Mars appearing like a beacon over the neighbors trees.Soon realized i only had about a 1m40s before trailing appeared on the images through the Orion 80mm /D70 combo ...bugger.... .With the wind gone the temp started to drop and dew settled in ...bugger ....feeling defeated went inside to grab a coffee and saw the the dragons and balmai...western tigers score >dragons losing.... BUGGER.... :rolleyes: well time to change tact i thought and go visual ...YES this was a whole lot more relaxing :cool: seeing the eastern half of the sky come alive with summer constellations was a nice antidote to the frustration the Sky sometimes dishes up :thumbsup:

Atleast the whole night wasn't a complete failure Stuart.

true really we did prefer the older ones, any enhancements?
Nice to see that you pushed on regardless. At duckadang this year i couldn't get polar alignment to save my life. So with some help (1ponders) I removed the wedge and went back to good old alt az and proceeded to find 33 Messier object and 15 NCG objects i have never seen as well as a few other constallation shapes I have not seen before.
Nice writeup BTW

:thumbsup: no worries fellas ill see if she can pose again ;)
Houghy you reminded me as i was timing the polar alignment i was going over the new season constellation shapes , man it was cool to get back to basics like that. Its interesting in this game how little things can pick you up and lead you down different paths , first thing i did today was put the LX back into altizmuth mode ...the passion for the hunt returns :D {okay regardless of the GOTO :poke: }
Yes nothing like some visual observing to get the interest and relaxation flowing again, beren. :)
