Hi,

I originally posted "What a carton of beer will get you" about a week ago after my manul arts friends made us some mounting rings after hearing from Paul (1ponders) that caravan gas cylinder holders work well for what we were trying to do.

Well last night was the first time my mate Adam and I mounted the hot water system onto my EQ^ Pro and took some AVI's of Saturn. I have posted the results on the solar system section.

My heart was in my mouth as we added weights to balance this scope but I was amazed at how smooth everything moved after we balance it. Call us nuts but we had a great night.

Fantastic work, well done!

Do you rotate the tube to get the EP in a comfy position for viewing?

The rings look great!

Hi Mike,

All we did last night was imaging but the way it was set up the eyepiece was OK. Just climbing up the small ladder to get to it was the uncomfortable bit even though the legs we the smallest. I reckon it will be great for viewing as the mount didn't seem to have a hastle following stars although I did spend a fair amount of time aligning using K3CCD tools and the web cam through the computer to do so. About 45 minutes.

Hi Mark,
Looking good, nice shirt, what do you have between the gas bottle rings and the scope tube?

Scope and mount look great, was there any wind when you were observing?, be interesting to see if the image remains stable in some breeze.

Cheers
Trevor

Thanks all,

Paul I have posted our first Saturn on Solar System. How are the teeth??? Trevor when I bought the EQ6 Pro it came with a long dovetail bar 30cm approx so the boys attached it to the bars that attach to the frame of the caravan after cutting some off.

Will attach photo

We had a few spits up at the Observatory, but now its just plain horrible. All the bright stars look like strobe lights atm. Seeing at about -5 I'd say.
