Hi All,

Please see:

http://www.planetary.org:80/blog/article/00001909/

For some new images from Cassini of shadows cast on the now nearly edge-on rings by moons and also shadows cast by by the edges of the B-ring onto adjoining parts of the rings.

A lot of the accompanying explanation has a heaps of wow factor.

A serious eyepopper! Enjoy!

Best,

Ohhhh WOW! The picture of the shadows near the rim of the ring by the setting sun is just stunning. I am gobsmacked. What incredible beauty.

Should provide some scientific and geological isnsight too!

Hi Les,
Since the arrival of Cassini at Saturn it has captured some truly amazing images of this ringed giant.

In celebration of Galileo bringing the telescope to bear on the heavens the Cassini Imaging Team have put together a set of their best images, available at the following link.

These are simply breathtaking images, hope you enjoy them.
I just love Saturn.

My favourites -

This moon shadow animation:- http://ciclops.org//view_media.php?id=27115

and "the blue dot" behind a dark Saturn:- http://ciclops.org//view_media.php?id=25521

I'm also a child of the Cat Stevens era - that song is on an LP not far from where I sit right now!
