Can't sleep that well at the moment. So I'm going to bore you all to tears as I continue to play and learn and get frustrated and well, you know! 14/03 - 15/03, Moon was about 75%. Although, by the time I moved to this target, most of the neighbors had gone to bed and turned their lights off.

68 x 70 seconds exposures at iso 800. 8 x combined darks applied in registax 5, levels, curves and crop in Gimp, 1000d through ed80, no guiding, just trying to polar align as accurately as I can, before I tackle drift aligning.

Hi Darren
not bad considering the short exposures and the Moonlight!

There's an odd artifact in the bottom right hand quadrant that almost looks as though some stars are replicated but washe out a bit (see in the nebula) could it be a problem with stacking

Can I suggest you get and try DSS (free) I usde it and love it
cheers

Very nice image considering it is unguided. Get going on the DA as it is your best course towards a good Polar alignment/ good image. To image DSO you really need to get this right and then get some form of active guiding then take some much longer subs, some calibration files and you will really notice a diference.
Keep at it. Very nice.

Thanks guys, DA will come, I'm waiting for an illuminated reticle... Although in practice, I hope it's easier to do than reading about it. It seems quite daunting.
