Hi,

Could it be raining any harder on the Sunshine Coast. I have included two images for comparison and feedback on my processing of the second image.

The first image is a single shot of 5 minutes taken through W/O Flt 110. The second is a stack of 15 Lights, 7 Darks with Flats and Bias Frames applied. I am in the process of reading and applying Wodaski's zone system chapter 3 and would value any feedback on this image. Taken with scope mentioned above guided with PHD and using a canon 400d unmodified ISO 800.

Thanks,

Mark

Nice image Mark, It appears you have nice detail in the core/ keyhole area in the single image but may have pushed the same area a little hard which has caused this area to wash out a bit. some selective work on this area may well give you back some of this detail.
Keep at it. Lots to learn isn't there.

Thanks Doug,

I'm finding processing a real mission. More practice required.

That looks excellent mate. You've pushed enough to show all the surrounding nebulosity and your stars still look ok. Don't worry too much about the keyhole area. It's hard to show details in there AND to show all the outer nebula. Too much dynamic range. Top shot and processing

Good work Mark
you can really see the benefits of a stack.
keep it up
there's always something new to learn in the processing field!
