I'm off to Gippsland for a few days to the family holiday house.

This will be the first time to a dark site with my new gear - too bad about the moon though... I'm treating it more like a practice run.

Finish making up my little one channel dew heater controller so I can separately control a heater on the C8 corrector plate, if the four-channel controller is already in use on the 12" reflector. :)

I hope all you people who have Easter Holidays do what they were created fore. Go to chuch on Good Friday and mourn the death of Christ and go to church again on Sunday to celebrate his rising. If you have got anything else in mind you should not have a holiday.

Now you asked what will I do. Well I don't get a holiday because I am retired so I am not a hypocrite if I just stay home and rest.

Well first of all my relies from Melbourne were coming up but they changed their minds at the last minute  so then we decided to go to an engagement party in Adelaide :) but hubby had a busy week at work and he needs a rest  so then we were going to go camping :campfire:and do a bit of fishing :fishing: but we are on red alert with the yucky blue green algae :scared2: in the river so we are now just going to chill at home with a few friends :D

But first of all i have to go and replace all the easter eggs that i bought earlier for the kids which i have already gone and ate :lol::lol::lol:
Then eat more chocolate, drink plenty and relax stay up all night cause of so much sugar in my system that i will be buzzing all weekend so i might get a few jobs done around the house MAYBE :lol:

Do some gardening while I glare at our new neighbours :fight:who have just finished building their ENORMOUS 2 story home to my north, with outside lights everywhere. :mad2:

Also read a little and, if the skies are clear at night, and the moon suffers a black-out (fat chance) have a peep into infinity.
(Does anyone know an incendiary maniac or demolition expert?)

I plan on staying home, eating a ton of chocolate and washing it down with a large number of Duck Farts. Oh yes, I'll also stare forlornly at a perfectly clear night sky with a humongous full moon in it!!

Duck Fart:

Into a chilled shot glass add, in the following order:

1/3 Kahlua
1/3 Bailey's
1/3 Crown Royal Canadian Whisky on top (Southern Comfort or Jack Daniel's will also work)

Add slowly & carefully and you'll get three distinct layers. It requires a delicate touch.:D

Verrrrrry important step now .... drink in one mouthful!!! :drink:For best effect have 4 or 5 with a friend. Warning: After that many, making them properly maayyyyy get a little harder.
Cheers, Marcus

I'll do a bit of fishing :fishing: off McLoughlins beach, some easter egg eating and some drinking :drink: too. ;)

But if I can improve my southern hemisphere polar alignment skills, then I will come home very happy. :D

I'll be making a start on a retaining wall around the house.

It started as a simple wall but some how I'm thinking it will end up bigger than Ben Hur.

I know the feeling but just don't go down the same road that I did!

I will be starting to stain the third merbau that I finished a couple of weeks ago.
1st deck 45m2
2nd deck 14m2
3rd deck 18m2

Let the staining begin!:sadeyes::sadeyes::sadeyes:

Hey Andrew,:)

I am using merbau as well. I have two decks. 80 and 45 sqM.

The re-oiling is the easy part. We have Jarrah furniture to move. Seats 12.
As well as the pot plant conglomeration. BBQ etc.

I'm currently in between coats.

Might indulge in some chockies and a drop of white port. Well it used to be white.
I've had it aging in a 15Ltr American Oak barrel. Its now gone dark brown, black almost. The colour that Astro Geeks like to see.

Happy Easter all,
Marty

Hey Marc4darcskies,:)

I can use one of those now.

Duck Fart:

Into a chilled shot glass add, in the following order:

1/3 Kahlua
1/3 Bailey's
1/3 Crown Royal Canadian Whisky on top

Sounds good enough to drink

Just finished: :work:
Shifting outdoor furniture,
Re-oiling the front deck, :painting:
Re-oiling the back deck,
last touches painting the ensuite and
Mowed the second and last acre of lawn.

I can't get any Canadian Club just yet. Had to settle second best
The Carlton Crown was nice and now its into some top Rosemount Chardoney. :drink:

Its a week night ( and holiday )and I always prepare dinners on week nights. but I trade Wednesdays for Saturdays, so that is the exception.

Tonight is; beef stir fry with Hokkien Noodles in Chinese BBQ sauce, followed by bananas (home grown) in custard laced with Bundy Rum.

The wine selected for tonight is McQuiggan's Special Reserve Shiraz 2005.

Dessert wine, Stanton and Killeen's '88 Liqueur Muscat.

To finish; Local oak cask port ( Hunting Lodge ) and Easter Eggs and imported chocolates.
I trust that this should meet "She Who Must be Obeyed's" approval.

Cheers Marty

Whoa Marty!! ... you had a busy day - and THEN you cooked!!!? I'm sure SHMBO was suitably pleased!! Looks like you finished off in style too. Next time though START your evening with a few duck farts!! OR a sweet margarita if you want stopping power:

Serving for two ... or one person twice. In an ice filled shaker ...

240ml Tequilla
80ml Lime juice
40ml Triple Sec
40ml Cointreau
40ml Grand Mariner
Yep, thats over 1/3 litre of unadulterated liquor :) :eyepop:Serve in a salt rimmed glass (a large one). For best effect, have two <hic>
Hey, what else can an astronomer do when there's a full moon??:confuse3::evil:

Cheers, Marcus

From Friday thru Monday alternating between Red and White.
If we weren't living in tough economic times I would be indulging in my own favourite cocktail - The Rusty Nail!!
Equal Parts Whisky (Malt prefered) and Drambuie.
You can forget about serious imaging after one of those!!

Happy Easter regardless of your religious leaning or tipple!!

Hi All,

What am I doing over the Easter-break?

I'm off the Mudgee in now 12 days time for the (Sutherland Astronomical Society only) Mudgee Star Party over 5 days. So, I've got preparations to make, mirrors to wash, telescope to tidy up, observing lists to finalise and all sorts of other things.

This year I've got new digs up at Mudgee -- an old caravan that has just been nicely renovated for myself and my best mate Gary (we always observe and room together). It sleeps 3 has a working fridge, stove etc etc and good beds and is in a shady spot. So there are a few things that will make the journey up this year and stay for future use like crockery, cutlery, spare food, cooking utensils etc etc -- you know the sort of stuff.

I'm also giving a talk on the Saturday this year so I gotta get that all tidied-up and ready to roll too!

I love preparing to go to a star-party and all the planning and sense of anticipation that goes with it -- there's nothing worse than turning up to find that something like the eyepieces or some other vital bit is 350km away ... at home.

So, I'm makin' a list and checkin' it twice ...

Unpacking after a star party on the other hand is dismal ... particularly if you didn't get much/any observing done because of weather.

Best,

Les D

You're obviously a person with refinement, good taste & class ... just like me. Wait a minute ...... I like drinking Duck Farts - partly because they're called Duck Farts! Oh well  better add uncouth to my list of attributes :P :)

Marcus

PS: Forget about astro-imaging after a few drinks. For some reason the equipment never seems to work properly!!

Did you say bruises??!! Check out the morning after the morning after shot (hope you're not eating) of the shiner I gave myself after walking (at a full pace) into a post on a moonless night on my way to bed after a clouded out session. For some inexplicable reason  I thought I could see in the dark without my headlight. Anyway, the post jumped out and struck me on the brow ridge above my left eye near the bridge of my nose .... ooooooooouch!!!

Whilst I have a margarita ( and I salute you for having the same taste in booze as me); a 10 "fridge pack" of Smirnoff double black and a 4 pack of Crusier black (which is half gone as of today,) I gotta say, a glass or 10000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000 of Cosmopolitan really hits the spot :D

You should mix the cosmo with a bottle of Vodka Crusier black (the clear one), that way you'll have a tasty beverage AND you'll get wasted in no time :D :D :D
