Hi All

I've had a Mogg adapter for some time to use with my Canon FD lenses and my SBIG ST2000XCM but I haven't had any way of mounting it on my EQ6 so I finally got around to making a bracket of sorts. I had some 12mm ply lying around so I cut it to size and drilled the appropriate holes to suit the ST2000XCM attached to a spare dove tail bar. Not flash but it works.

Anyway ... even though there were lots of clouds milling around last night I was determined to see if I could get some images with this setup and here is one. A widefield of Orion shot with my Canon FD 70-210mm F4 Lens set at 210mm and an aperture of F11 attached to my SBIG ST2000XCM.
It didn't take long for the cloud to completely blanket the sky but at least I got an idea of the fov of this setup .... I'll have to try my other FD lenses next.
This is not meant to be a wow pic it's really just about trying new things.

 If we could only ever post "wow" pics some of us would never ever get to post our images.

We've a lot to thank Steve for. His adaptors allow us to explore yet another side of this hobby.
I use one of his adaptors to hook the gstar up to a c-mount 4mm cctv lens ($18 Jaycar). Excellent for meteor showers.
The Pi Puppids peak on the 23rd of this month, hope the cloud clears by then.

Nice widefield Steve, with a little change of framing you may have been able to squeese the Horse Head in the image as well.
Nice first light with the lens.

Looks out of focus or soft Steve. Still a good result for a first image with this imaging configuration. Looking forward to seeing more once you get the rig dialled in for some wide field splendours.

We have nothing but smoke everywhere here at the moment ... bushfires to the North, East and South plus cloud .... perfect conditions for imaging really
Will keep my eyes peeled 23rd Jeanette ... if it all clears up.

Thanks Doug ... it's all fun ... I think

Cheers Jase ...

The focuser ring actually slides along the lens barrel for zooming on this model ... I was happy to get close to be honest. It's a beautiful lens to use hand held ... very smooth motion to zoom and focus in one movement. I have a couple more lenses to try that don't have the same focusing system and will give a much wider fov ... 35-70mm ... 50mm standard plus a Canon FD 2 x Extender. I really want to do some wide field images of the milky way later on when the moon buggers off ;)
