Yet another newbie/Carina/mosaic photo:
This is my first posted DSO on the forum :hi: after accumulating enough gear and lurking even longer.

A mosaic of 2 panes, each 30 x 2min, unmodded Canon 20D, iso 800 with 30 darks stacked in DSS. Levels/curves/fringekiller action applied.

Imaging scope: 100mm F6 Achromat with WO VR-1 filter.
Guide scope/camera: 80mm F6/DSI pro on LXD75 guided with PhD.

Criticism/suggestions most welcome.

It looks a little red - even the stars look red.

But otherwise that looks awesome, Im impressed with the sharpness.

I would go as far as to say thats a great image of eta carine, as the others mention, bring the red back a little, but thats a minor minor issue...

Very nice guiding and focus!! The WO VR-1 certainly makes your 100mm F/6 achro perform very well..

Do you intend to add another two panels to encompass the rest of the the nebula?

Well done mate.
Alex.

Thanks all for you kind comments and suggestions.

I've tried a pulling back the red and boosting the green and blue a tad and the result can be seen below. However, in doing this and taking note of jay-qu comments about the star colours, I noticed that saving the file as a JPEG was knocking out the colours of the background stars. I've saved the image as a gif and you can see the difference in star colour. Anyone else seen this happen?

Alex, I intend to finish the job but am having a slight problem with cloud at the moment. :P

Eeeekkkk! First DSO image and you're doing mosaics! Maybe a bit too much to take aboard and do the scene justice. Alas, I admire your ethics. Good advice from others to note. Keep at it - look forward to seeing more.
