This is from the 23rd of Feb.
Canon 20D, Canon Nifty 50.
10 frames for a total of 7min 28secs.
The image was cropped to chop out coma and rotation.

Hello jjjnettie:
In fact, for being a new participant in the group, I don't know if I can must help, to orient a photo, coverall when it has many probabilities of improving.
I have done it case with some magicians pass, mainly to clear the green excess and giving a little but of life to this beautiful object that I do not have possibility to see from my country.
If you consider that I do not have to do that, I leave my personal excuse and I immediately come to clear it.

Yes, it's not too bad for the price.
Pity about the coma though.

Try stopping the lens down a bit more. Camera lenses are not figured as well as telescopes so the outer areas have more aberrations. So stopping them down tends to reduce the coma a lot.
Greg.

If I put in more of an effort with my polar aligning I can go for longer exposures and knock it down even further.

Great image jjj - lots to look at. Bit of a gradient, but doesn't detract from the appeal of the pic.
I love this focal length on the LMC - you start to appreciate the remnants of the spiral arms. I'm sure you could capture the full extent of this object from your dark skies with longer subs and loads of 'em!
Nice one!

But it's been absolutely crap weather. I'm going/gone stir crazy just sitting inside at night doing nothing constructive. Bring on Winter!
