Here's my go at Eta Carina.

Ed 80 on EQ6 Pro, Eos 1000D @ prime.

12 x 1 min exposures at iso 800.

Darks applied though dark frame, stacked in registax and levels and curves in Gimp. This is probably the image that I'm most pleased with, although the learning curve continues. It seems a long way to feel comfortable with what I'm trying to do now, Actually advancing more than incrementally seems a tough ask.

I'm having fun though. In trying times, setting up, capturing and fixing all the little things that seem to happen in the wee small hours is so relaxing, you sometimes forget the world around you.

Comments / suggestion / complaints appreciated.

nice work Daz,
obviously the longer the exposures the more nebulosity will be revealed but for 1 min subs this is very nice
i like the colorsand the image and nice and crisp
well done
I agree with you, keep having fun and like you the minutia of all the prep work is the only thing these days that makes me forget the world around as i focus on the world AROUND and above us!

Trevor,

At the moment I'm unguided and trying to do my best with Polar alignment.
Like other beginners, Polar alignment seems to happen quickly and accurately or I seem to be at the polar scope for ages and generally don't end up that happy.

My question is, can you really do 2 to 3 minute exposures unguided?

Darren if your polar align and drift alignment is spot on, people reckon you can track unguided even longer than that

Clean, crisp, and good colour. Sheesh, but I had to zoom in to 400% to get to the good bit close up.
