Synscan question

I have asked this question before but no luck on internet. Have a eq5 with synscan upgrade and now have a heq5 non goto as well. Have 2 questions to ask..


Does the synscan eq5, heq5 and eq6 upgrades use the same motors? I know the the circuit boards are different shape.
If they are the same, then can I fit my eq5 synscan upgrade to my heq5 mount to make it goto. I asked AZT in Melbourne and they said no you could not. Do not know if that answer was a marketing ploy to get me to buy the upgrade.The internet does not have any info on the motor models they use and if it is possible.

You have the Goto upgrade kit , and the HEQ5 -(with motors?)
are the motors the same ? are their worm-gears the same?
the handcontroller will be universal, but the motor-controllers might be different, for different motors....... you might answer some of your own questions by getting the pdf from Skywatchers website for the HEQ5 upgrade kit ;)

Had a look at the pdf's online. You cannot tell from the b&w drawings if the motors are the same ones. I know the circuit boards have a different shape but they would fit inside the mount cavity and I could modify the outside plastic cover to connect the dec and ra pin cables. The steel square mount plate on the motors is a bit different but I could also make one up. My main concern is the motors, are they the same, have they got enough torque.

Sofar as I could determine, the motors on vanilla HEQ5 are different to HEQ5-Pro (Goto)... ( eg: new motors in upgrade kit ! )

There IS a non-Goto version called 'Syntrek' that already has the GoTo-compatible motors and controller... just plug in GoTo handset...

therefore... it's down to "are EQ5 and HEQ5 motors the same?" (GoTo versions) ...could somebody check model-numbering on them ?

Yes that is what I would like to know if the synscan eq5 upgrade motors are the same in the synscan heq5 upgrade motors. If they are, then I can try and fit them to the heq5 wilt all the electronics as well.

I did ask about the syntrek mount model as well and AZT said it was a limited run. It is being reintroduced this year but it would be very expensive.

So if anyone knows the part numbers for these motors or a site, It would be greatly appreciated.
