Kick ass. Where was the image taken? I assume you didnt use CCD equipment. If you didnt, what sort of Film Did you use?

image was taken in Adelaide on a Meade 10" LX200 with a Nikon D70 DSLR. Thanks for the compliment.

Paul,
great shot(s), and to add weight to the Nikon faithful, I have attached a composite of 47 Tuc. Taken with the D100, and through a homebrew 10" f5 newt, and also a homebrew (optical set) MN76. Both on a G-11. Single shots (not stacked).

Awesome pics Gary, especially for single shots!

Is the D100 a digitalSLR? Were they taken at prime focus?

HI Ice,
yep to both.
Prime focus, and with the D100 Nikon, which is a DSLR (6.3mp).
I wanted to try it, especially after many years of film Nikons, and I first used for the two comets earlier this year.
I haven't looked back.
I am currently trialing a 3.3mp cooled colour CCD camera, and at about US$550 it is cost effective. TIme will tell.

Gary, this shot was taken after the above picture and is better for tracking and exposure. One night soon I will do a 5min shot at 800. Till then here it is.

That's a much better shot Paul, well done.

I can't wait until Omega Centauri is higher again.

Nice shot as well. Try a few, and stack them.
I haven't worried about stacking the glob type shots, Omega and 47 Tuc, but with the likes of NGC253 0r 55 I usually shoot about 6 or so, and stack them.
Haven't shot much, (except rabbits & opposums) with the weather being lousy. Hopefully this will change soon.

Yeah spring weather can be more frustrating that winter, days nice and fine and then nights get heavy cloud cover. Three weeks or so the weather should improve enough to be reliable for shooting.

Good one Ving. Is that M1 (crab Nebula)? If it is, that is not bad at all.

I think it's 47Tuc, and it's still a very good job for afocal short exposure single shot.

I took some shots of 47Tuc the other weekend, but haven't got around to doing the final processing on them yet. Might try and finish them off this morning, as it'll be my first afocal DSO! :)

but yeah its 47tuc very short exposure afocal.

Given the limitations of the gear, I think it is a very good shot. Stick with it!!
