Hi,
I had another go at the Lagoon this morning...far better seeing
than yesterday's attempt here:
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=42933
I will try and add the colour data from yesterday to today's result
and see how it turns out.
I knew I could do better than yesterday, I was a bit disappointed with
that effort.
My 8y/o son joined me in the hour before dawn and we watched Jupiter
through his 8"homemade newt. Gobsmacking clarity.
He saw the GRS for the first time :)

Top stuff Steve, that's a great image and nice and sharp as well.
Your partner in crime looks totally engrossed in his viewing. That's great he's into astronomy a well. At least you'll know where the DSI is when it dissapears.

Nice to see a bit of colour there Steve
The latest image sure is looking good.
And as for your young bloke...careful Steve, that inch aperature per year of age ratio may become a habit.
I wouldn't want to be you on his 21st birthday. :eyepop:

LOL Ric,
He's a lot like me when I was at school, frustrated by how revisional
and dumbed down the astronomy part of the curriculum is.
He soaks up knowledge like a sponge, like all kids do if they are
stimulated! :)
The 8" will do him for a while yet Justin...although I can't wait till
he's a few years older and we might grind another mirror together.
Thanks all again for the kind words guys,
Paul Haese

Very well done Steve,
Good to see your young bloke taking an interest.
Steve, you have some great structure and very delicate detail in this image although I reckon your Omega Neb image is the best you have done so far. The Swan is an absolute favorite of mine and I take every opportunity to observe it, this image of The Lagoon is right up there but The Swan, in my opinion is great.
Cheers
