Yep, Astrophotograpy would suit you, for more reasons than just bad eyesight. To focus on a bright long exposure image is way easier than visually, and with autofocus, its a no brainer, although that would cost more. Yes, you could mount your dob, others could help with that, but to do widefield astrophotography (cheaper) would set you back $5K at least id say.
