Hello all...

Stuffed up last night, but all is not lost!

Focused on bright star at 98mm FL (70mm +1.4 extender = 98mm)
Wanted to shoot image at 280mm but forgot to reset/zoom!

As a result I have a widefield of the Centaurus region centered on the "Running Chicken Nebula" - IC2944/2948

Canon 40D (modded)
Canon 70-200mm f4L lens + Canon 1.4x Extender
Hutech IDAS LPS2 filter
HEQ5 Pro Mount
Autoguided with PHD

9x600 second exposures (1.5 hours total)
FL=98mm, iso1600, f5.6, ICNR on, Flats applied.

Bit hazy last night - gives the stars a nice glow!
No High Res - just a bit of fun!
Cheers
Doug:thumbsup:

If you wack another zero on the end of that focal length, then its a Mans Image!! :D

Fantastic looking image, Despite forgetting to zoom her back in, I actually really appreciate the wider look at this area.. Definitely very different to what im used to seeing in a Running Chicken image... :)

I look forward to you tackling this one again, minus the hazy sky! :)

Alex.

No, no, no
Looks like it was taken with a OM-1 10min on ektachrome 200 back in 1982!
Well it has that look!

Looks good. Be nice to see it closer still and include that open cluster to the left - NGC 3766 I think. Seems to be some nebula there as well.
