Congrats John, I'm just wondering if you gave the scope a big hug like Anna did? :)

I like the colour, any specific reason why you chose the blue?

Sorry Andrew, no hug from me.

Blue? Pretty simple really it's Anna favourite colour and we both wanted it to be something different to the norm in wood stain. The images don't really do any justice to the look, it's a real Electric Blue in the flesh and highlights the grain in the timber superbly.

Congratulations John and Anna!

I'm so envious! It looks great!

Am I right to assume that "Edwin" is a more personal "Hubble"?:P

Anna & John, congratulations, what a wonderful looking scope.
Wow it also has Servo Cat and Argo, what more could you want !!

Congrats to Peter too for his fantastic workmanship.
Looks like the mirror will cool down very quickly with minimum surroundings.

BTW the choice of colour blue is awesome, "it's my favourite colour too"

Can't wait to see Edwin, and catch up with you and Anna.

I am pleased to report, having met Edwin in the flesh, and having had the privilege of enjoying some of his reflected photons over the past week at Wee Jasper, that he is a VERY special boy indeed.

As John says, the colour is at the "electric blue" end of the spectrum, some might even call it a "chick's scope". I reckon it is one of the coolest scopes I have ever seen. The mirror is an absolute ripper as well (perhaps most importantly).

At that focal length there is a small amount of ladder work involved, but just a simple step ladder rather than my six feet ladder.

Anna had a great time hunting down galaxies she had never seen before, and becoming familiar with objects that now take on a whole new aspect with the additional light such a large scope produces.

Well done, Peter Read!

Judging by some of the shots of John in his "cape" this design could really take off!
