Couple from the weekend

My goto on the Tak is playing up so no new objects. For some reason I keep getting a error when trying to slew to Messier numbers or they just slew to the wrong part of the sky. However I did try for a better image of M42 and one of Omega Centauri. The omega shot I am happy with but will have to wait until next year for the M42. I just cannot get enough subs to make the image work.

Strewth Paul, these are excellent images.

Your image of M42 is one of the most detailed and esthetically pleasing that I have seen, I suppose the operators of the wide field cameras on the HST might try for more but surely for a ground based amateur produced image, it is a stand out, truly astonishing.

Your image of Omega Cent is nicely done and there appears to be a SP Galaxy on the far right edge, down from the top of the image, can't detect any pink colour cast on my screen, just a very nice image of a showpiece object of the Southern Sky.

I have subsequently installed another image that you might like to take a look at. I also have sorted the pink donut that I had on Omega.

Thanks once again. A huge compliment, I am only trying to use this camera and gear to their full extent. I still think my focus was a little off, but am now much happier with the result.

Not sure where to start Paul, If I could produce an image anywhere near like these two examples of your work, I'd be more than satisfied, I'd probably have trouble fitting my big head through a door!

Omega Cent looks v.nice and sharp !

The detail in M42 is fantastic, amazingly smooth.
If I had to critique it would be that the colour is not as appealing to me but it's only my personal taste, that's not to detract from the fact that it's a great image.

Have you played with M42's colour balance since posting originally? I'm looking at it on a different monitor and it looks a little green here now.

Andrew, I am using the HP palm pilot with the sky 6 pocket edition.

Troy, yes I have reworked the image from original posting. The green is more in keeping with Hubble and other great imagers results. If you look at Russell Croman's and Strongman Mikes images of this area, there is a distinct green brown tinge to the outer regions. Most commonly think this whole area is red. However, I have looked over several sites to see that there is a browny green tinge that shows itself. I guess it is personal taste, but I like the fact that this colour has shown itself all of its own.

Thanks all for the comments. I might look at the colour again and reduce the green tinge.
