Hi all
Here are two Cometary Globules in Puppis. They point towards the east (image runs east west, north is up).
The image is technically a IR RGB, as I deliberately used no filter at at on the modded 350D, allowing infra red light in, which penetrates all three colours on the bayer filter on the sensor.
This pushing my gear to the limit with these low surface brightness objects. Image is 12 x 10 mins, total 2 hours, with the 6 inch F3.6 SN. MPCC coma corrector.
I was concentrating on CG1, as it is the brightest intending to do CG2 separately, but both fitted in. I didnt realise that till Id taken the images as CG2 doesnt show up on the subs, its that faint! Only the bright nose of CG1 shows up on the subs.
There is a 3rd isolated globule upper left and a much fainter one behind and up a bit from CG1.
Ive always been fascinated by these very elusive objects, with their beautiful brown colour. This is the first colour image Ive ever seen of these globules :)
I may have just started to record some very faint clouds (galactic cirrus) along botom of image. Theres a few internal refections in the image.
They almost cry out for Strongmanmike to image them with his rig with a many hour imaging run :)

EDIT: Another set of dark comets, these are collectively known as CG 31, A, B, C, and so on. This is 1 hours worth, (6x10 mins same setings)
