NGC 3521 spiral Galaxy in Leo

Hi,
Just a quick shot of this Galaxy at the beginning of the week just before moon rise. Only could squeeze just over a hours worth before the moon got too high. Seeing was average/poor and transparency was also poor. Very hazy with some low cloud. Havn`t seen many images of this one so I had to give it a go! It`s quiet a pretty little spiral galaxy and it looks like the faint outer halo extends quiet a distance from the core. Would make a nice few hour target on a very clear still night! :thumbsup:
Image is full size just cropped and is 14 x 5 min @ iso 800 with 20D and 8" newt.
Stacked in DSS and like always finished in PS CS.

Great colours. Seeing is pretty bad over these last couple of nights, so I can see what you mean. However, like you say, it is intersting to look at, and you have done a good job bringing out the core and surrounds.

Thanks Paul, Trevor and Leon. Yeah the weather has been a real pain in the bum lately! Poor and hazy conditions but the 18th-19th were really steady which I took advantage of although many subs lost due to cloud! But at least I am catching photons! :)

Nice image Gary considering what you were up against. I had a go at 3521 a couple of weeks ago with the DSI - 35x2mins so about the same total integrated time. Your longer subs certainly have paid off although I think the seeing was probably working in my favour.

Yes there seems to be a diffuse halo around the galaxy, almost in 3D..?

Hope the transition wasn't too painful...
This is a great object and as you say, a good clear night would be what is needed.
Still, although things look a bit fuzzy, you manged to get a nice image considering the conditions.

Hope the weather clears for you soon,... for that matter, hope it clears here too!!

A very interesting photography, well done.
This impressive galaxy is both large and bright and could have been easily seen by Messier, in a zone very reviewed by him.
