Running Chicken Nebula - IC2944

Here is my Running Chicken Nebula effort. And you can definitely say yes it does look like a chicken or is it just me?

Sky was clear with the occasional slight gusts of wind.

1x2min, 2x3min, 2x6min and 1x10min at 1600iso using my trusty Canon 350D and regular setup.

This image is uncropped but reduced for show.

Stacked with DSS and processed in CS3 and slight noise reducing with Noise Ninja.

I don't understand why you have a range of different exposure times for this object ... it doesn't have a wide dynamic range like M42 for instance so I would have thought more of the longer exposures would have been better and possibly using ISO800 at most ... 1600 tends to introduce too much noise etc.
This isn't to put you off mate ... keep at it !

Thanks Steve, comments will never put me off. I need them to put me on the straight.

There was no maths in the range of exposures, it was a case of trial and error, I wasn't too sure how much to give to bring out the object and again the same with the iso. Given the fact of a work night and the early rise it was a bit of a dash to get what I got.

Obviously I know now what exposure settings I need to bring out this object I will at the next available opportune to remedy this.

The purpose of submitting I suppose was to show the object as the name best describes it.

lambda Centauri (The really bright star) is supposedly the eye, the beak below to the right and follow on from there.
