View Full Version here: : Saturn March 17th
Took this earlier tonight with my C11 and Toucam. Quick stack of the colour avi in registax 5, deconvolution in AstraImage, then levels/curves/crop in photoshop.

Nice one Kal, seeing looked ok tonight. I'm out amongst it now but clouds have come over and I only got a couple of avi's interrupted by clouds.
Thanks Mike.
Here is another one. Processed differently - I used a large alignment box over the whole disc of Saturn instead of a small alignment box at the disc/ring meeting point (which I think caused the right side of the image to be sharper than the left side, as I can't see the cassini division on the left side in my first pic). Also, colours processed a bit better I think.

Hi Kal,
This second image is a lot better, nice job.
Kal, I have found much better results when using an alignment box that frames the disk, not the ring plane but just the disk.
It really depends on the image scale you get with your particular setup.

Well done Andrew, the 2nd on is a lot better.
BTW did you barlow the camera?
Also what is this blur on the side of the rings. I have put a square around it so you can see what i am speaking of.

Looks like a moon to me.

You should try and run a stack on the moon and see what you can get out of it, if anything and maybe layer it back on.
Thanks Trevor. I was still in Jupiter mode from last year looking for a smaller detail to align to, but working with the whole disc definately worked better in this case.
Thanks Fahim. I used a 2.5x powermate for F25. The blur is a moon. I could see it on screen when I was focusing @ F10, but when I put in the powermate I couldn't see it, even if I put gain & gamma to maximum and used the toucams longest exposure (I would have used it again to focus otherwise).
It only *just* shows up during processing. I can't see it to put an alignment box on to process it seperately, unless you know of a way to stretch the data of all my raw frames?
