ok ... so i know i am gonna regret this.
What would you recommend for a beginners DSLR and why? am not after something thats been modified, or some crazy make, am looking for good build quality, ease of use for an absolute novice, and a good selection of features.
i know this has probably been asked loads of times. soz if it has, i did a quick search, but there are new models on the market all the time so i thought i would ask.
thanks :P

A good old fashioned 350D if you can find one. It should be cheap and you'll hardly notice the difference in image quality compared to the 400 and 450D when your first starting out. Once you decide that the DSLR is the way to go for you then you can look at a 50D or :scared: 5D
;)

Been watching eBay the last couple of weeks for Canon 350D's - body only about $350, with a lens or two and some accessories could be $450 to $500. Depends if you also want to use it for terrestrial photoography.
A new 40D or 50D about $1400/$1700 respectively - more pixels, live view (might help with focussing?), later processors (less noise?) - but I wouldn't class these as beginners. (I bought a 50D to replace my venerable D60).
Hope this helps,
Colin.
What is your max spending limit?
I'd say start with hunting down a 350D, if you have no luck, look around for a 400D or 450D. But it really depends on how much you want to spend. The other option is to go a 20D, 30D or 40D, they usually come up on Ebay and you could get yourself a reasonable deal that way.
