can someone tell me if the Orion autoguider has a built in optocoupler? l am going to try one on an early G11 which l understand needs the camera to be isolated from the mount. l do have an independant optocoupler if it is not built in. thanks.

Hi Mick,
As the Orion is a rebadged QHY5, it should be.
Just make sure your wires are going to the correct pins.

Does anyone here knows if this Orion autoguider will work with the Vixen Sphinx SXD GoTo mount (w/StarBook) using the supplied PHDguiding software??

From memory i think it will, but just check the pinouts to be sure.

PHD doesn't care / know what's on the other side of that autoguide port. That's a "dumb" port in that it's just sending simple on/off signals for the 4 directions. So, if you've got a guide port, you're fine. Caveat: There are 2 kinds of RJ cable; "straight" and "reversed". All it means is that in one case, one RJ plug is flipped over. SBIG expects one kind of cable and most others expect the other. I've seen this come up a few times for folks but it's fairly rare and easily fixed.
