l picked up my scope from BATSC today after having it cleaned and collimated, it was only away for 5 working days which l consider great service.
While it was there l had Roger fit a new Russian made 8 x 50 finder scope.
The optics are fully coated with an 8 degree FOV which is absolutely huge, and the clarity is stunning, the cross hairs to not intersect so you can see the object at all times but best of all it has a graduated focuser at the viewing end of the finder which l must say has great feel about it.
l have only had a look at a few earth bound objects so far but l have the feeling this will be one of the best additions l have bought.

I think I saw these finders on AOE's site too, on their TAL page. 8 deg FOV sounds great! How much are they, Mick?

$280.00 and $20.00 to fit it while the scope was apart for cleaning. lt had to have a new mounting plate fitted which meant drilling the OTA.

it looks great mick, all you need is another on the other side to balance the scope :P

Very nice mate! now which one do you look through, which one has the imager and which one has the camera? ;) Look forward to a nice report under the dark skies and a picture of the reticle

l had my first real chance last night to look through my scope after getting it back from BATSC, on my initial viewing on Sunday night which because of cloud did not last long l saw that the collimation was still out, l rang Roger and let him know and he assured me that it was fine when it left which l accept without hesitation so maybe it was one to many bumps in the back of the ELPHNT, anyway a slight tweak on one of the collimation screws and it is now spot on, the cleaning of the scope and the fitting of my new finder was first rate, maybe some of it is just in my head but the optical performance of the scope since l got it back is better than it has ever been and l would take this opportunity to thank Roger and Graham and recommend them to anyone seeking work on their scopes or just general information.
